There is an ancient expression of wisdom which states: as you think, so you become.
This is the basis of our understanding, our beliefs, our conditioning, our programming, our survival and growth as human beings. The process of human fulfilment and evolution begins with oneself. We are BEINGS of thought processes i.e. the software that is continually creating the totality of who we are: our personality, our character and our physical body. The mind, body & spirit are one.
Truly knowing oneself is a tough and challenging journey. You are forced to delve deep into your vulnerable self and really face, head-on, your inner dialogue. As a therapist, this is the lifelong journey I have personally embarked upon with the grand notion to “heal thyself” in order to elicit the healing response in others.
It takes a huge amount of courage to show up unmasked as one’s authentic self. We live in a harsh world of judgement, non-acceptance and apathy, all of which start within ourselves and our own thoughts, judgements and inner dialogue.
Working with clients it is not enough to hear about the things glibly said to others but rather what clients have never dared to share. For it is in the words that they have not spoken that the fear, shame and guilt exist. This then manifests in dis-ease and disease and high levels of anxiety, depression, anger and irritability. All of which begins with a single thought that escalates into an internal dialogue that becomes our life script. We play out this script naturally day after day, like on a stage, playing different roles and wearing several masks that ultimately distract us from really connecting with our true authentic self.
There is such power in sharing our stories and our life scripts and, in this way, healing each other. Let us work towards becoming REAL people, sharing REAL experiences and having REAL conversations. Let us give ATTENTION to our thoughts, care for our thoughts with deep AFFECTION, offer APPRECIATION for our uniqueness and bringing it all together with pure ACCEPTANCE of what IS right now. No judgement of right or wrong or good or bad. Celebrate with gratitude who you are right now.
I AM Asha and I aspire to grow authentically each day.
