Psychotherapy is collaboration between a psychotherapist and a client (individual, couple, family or group). The purpose of therapy is to enter into a therapeutic journey in a safe and trusting environment where it is possible to deal with issues of a traumatic or psychological nature.
Building the inner strength and facing the trauma and distress of the past, present and anticipated future, the therapist and client are able to rewire, challenge and learn to deal with the life challenges that brought about the search for therapy.
Psychotherapy provides a safe, unbiased and confidential relationship with a trained professional to assess, understand and treat psychological distress, while also providing the opportunity to adjust and release unhealthy habits. Within a space of safety, psychotherapy can facilitate a heightened awareness and a sense of accountability that can add meaning and a sense of purpose to everyday life.

About the Therapist
Norma was a mathematics teacher for 7 years before embarking on a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Stellenbosch University and obtaining her MSc cum laude in 2021. She was subsequently privileged to raise her 2 children (Daniel and Lara) AND her private practice simultaneously, and now considers herself blessed to have 2 amazing adult children and a thriving therapy practice.
Norma has previously worked extensively in career development, with a significant amount of this experience gained as a consultant to the Centre for Student Recruitment at Stellenbosch University.
She describes herself as a home-body with a love for cooking and trying out new recipes. She loves to walk and run (a bit) and ventures into the gym quite regularly. She enjoys reading and has recently discovered the joy of audio books. Lola the rescue-dog-beautiful-soul is a ‘laatlammetjie’ that has softened the impact of her empty nest syndrome!
Norma considers herself blessed to do the work she does. She has immense gratitude for her experiences to date (gained through formal training and practice AS WELL AS school of life) as these have equipped her so well for her current role.
